Balenciaga and Spanish Painting

By Our editors - 13. June 2019
On view between 18 Jun - 22 Sept 2019, Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza brings together a small group of Spanish Old Master paintings in juxtaposition with the designs by Cristóbal Balenciaga.

In this special exhibition, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza presents a small group of Spanish Old Master paintings as visual references for the designs by Cristóbal Balenciaga, arguably the most celebrated Spanish fashion designers of the 20th century. Curated by Eloy Martínez de la Pera, the exhibition juxtaposes archival pieces by Balenciaga, lent by the Museo Balenciaga in Guetaria, alongside a small group of Spanish Old Master paintings from Spain.
